Facing Teaching will give voice to the stories of current, former, and future teachers and those community members and educational professionals who have a teaching story to tell.
Stories will highlight the joys, hopes, and realities that teachers face on a daily basis and throughout their careers. We hope this project will celebrate teachers as well as help our community and nation better understand the lives and stories of those whom we entrust to educate our children.
Here’s how it works:
Writers, storytellers (those facing teaching), performers, and artists, Join our project!
Writers in our community are matched with someone with a story to tell about teaching– the storyteller. The writer will meet with the storyteller and then write a story as if they are them, writing in the first person. Then the writer and storyteller will collaborate on the final product. We’ll work with our community partners to collect these stories and facilitate the relationship between writers and storytellers. The stories will be compiled in a book to be released at a community monologue event (details to come).
